Vagamon - Scotland of Asia


Vagamon or Wagamon is a hill station located in Kottayam and Idukki districts of Central Kerala, India. Vagamon is one of the most popular tourist destination of Kerala and is known as the Scotland of Asia. Vagamon meadows (popularly known as Vagamon Muttakkunnu) are numerous small hills covered with meadows which resembles egg arranged in an egg box (hence the name Muttakunnu ).


There is a also a lake in the valley area where activities like boating, canoeing etc are held.  The location is ideal for evening walks. There are some adventure activities in the lake. Those include kayaking, zip line, etc. One can see people flying kites over the hills in the evening time.




Vehicles were allowed on the hills previously, but to preserve this natural reserve, the visitors need to park their vehicles outside the entrance and walk to the   hills. Vagamon meadows is a must visit place at Vagamon. Preferred visiting time is in the evening.
